A few words About us

The Fine Arts Academy, under the direction of Suzanne Bellore, was developed in 1993. The school is in Whitmore Lake, alongside US-23, just South of Barker Road, in a beautifully renovated antique barn overlooking the scenic Wildwood Lake.

The Fine Arts Academy's curriculum consists of Dance, Martial Arts, Music, Tumbling making it a unique Triple Threat program. The Academy is dedicated to producing professionally run classes with the finest quality, technique, skill and professionalism. Our School stresses the importance of respect and tradition introduced in a fun welcoming manner.

Ballet

The style of ballet taught at The Academy is Cecchetti based. This ballet is highly disciplined training in which a standard progression of exercises builds the strength and flexibility required for classical positions, steps, and combinations.

BallroomDance

These classes teach the basic step patterns of ballroom dance, that can be incorporated into different styles such as the waltz, foxtrot, or tango. Tap

Tap dance is an important component of dance that is often incorporated into musical theatre and other genres of dance. Students will learn rhythmic variations and performance skills through a series of tap combinations.

Jazz

Jazz is an exciting and ever-evolving dance form that encourages individual expression and the development of personal style. This class includes jazz technique, terminology, and quality, with an emphasis on execution.

Martial Arts

Our martial arts classes are fun for all ages. Every lesson develops important life skills such as focus, fitness, control, teamwork, balance, memory, discipline, and coordination. Little Ninja classes are offered to kids aged 4-6 to improve students' gross motor skills and listening to build the foundation for our Kenpo Karate classes or any sport/activity. Kenpo Karate is offered to kids aged 6 and up. Kenpo is an updated system of self-defense that applies logic and practicality. This method teaches variations within techniques for the best defense.

Pre-School and Child Care

The Fine Art Pre-Schools teaches Language, Math, Science, Social Life, and many other skills through traditional methods of enrichment along with activities involved with Dance, Creative Movement, Dramatic Games, Music, Martial Arts, Tumbling, and Children's Etiquette. Our program will allow exploration and play through a structured program with instructors specifically and professionally trained in each of the arts offered at the pre-school level. Half and full-day options are available. The Fine Arts Academy is licensed through the State of Michigan.

Women's Self-Defense

Self-Defense opens up the source of freedom for individuals in an imperfect world. Building confidence in physical resilience makes women feel more capable and more at peace when in potentially dangerous areas, as they know the proper techniques to help fend off an attacker. Students will learn to identify and use weapons of opportunity while practicing avoidance skills.
